Housing Associations

Norse Grounds Division has worked with many of the regions housing associations over the last 25 years, providing a wide range of services aimed at creating and maintaining enjoyable environments for tenants.

One such is Circle Housing Wherry , part of Circle Housing one of the leading providers of affordable housing which manages more than 60,000 homes across the UK.

Norse began working with Circle Housing Wherry in 2009, providing services that include grass cutting, hedge cutting, strimming, herbicide application to hard surfaces, litter picking, leaf clearance and renovation of shrub beds to 320 homes across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

“The communal areas say a lot about a person’s home and their community, so keeping them in pristine condition is very important to us and the Housing Associations we work with,” comments Norse’s Business Development Manager Mark Wyatt.

“We have an annual maintenance schedule with Circle Housing Wherry , which is augmented with regular planning and review meetings that cover new or additional work required. This sort of team approach ensures that, for instance, particularly dry or wet spells do not cause potential problems, or that revised landscaping plans are quickly and efficiently managed.”

Sally Greetham is the Neighbourhood Manager at Circle Housing Wherry : “We have worked with Norse Grounds Division for six years and they have worked hard to help us to enhance the lives of our customers by creating environments that our communities can be proud of.”

Taverham VC CE Junior School is one of over 300 educational establishments whose grounds are maintained by Norse Grounds Maintenance Division’s 90-strong team of groundsmen and managers.

Norse provides a regular grass cutting service but it is the comprehensive projects work that is the core of this relationship.

Over the last few years Norse has completed a wide range of projects that have enhanced the environmental and recreational facilities at the school.

Most recently in a three-week long development, Norse prepared a new long-jump pit, take-off board and artificial grass run-up on the school’s playing field. In another area of the school grounds a quiet garden area was created, with surrounding existing shrubs pruned and beds edged with timber and mulched. Picnic benches were supplied and installed, sensory shrubs planted and 1.2mtr high softwood fencing installed.

Previously Norse has also:

  • Supplied and planted established trees, revitalised the schools amphitheatre into a wildlife teaching aid including a fire pit, wild flowers, bug hotels, and wildlife attracting plants
  • Relocated netball hoops and supplied and installed climbing holds onto an existing wall.
  • Turned a cut down tree stump into a table, provided flat top benches with slabs beneath, raised beds and digging beds, quiet areas, pergolas.
  • Planted hedges, supplied and installed log seats, flat top benches, decking areas and formed new ponds
  • Laid extensive areas of ‘Nomow’ artificial grass

Paul Stanley, Headteacher at Taverham VC CE Junior School , commented: “I have been using Norse for many years, including at my previous school and have consistently been very pleased with the quality of their work. Norse has been efficient, flexible and reliable and have represented good value for money across a number of projects, large and small. What has been particularly positive has been the fact that Norse have been able to make helpful suggestions regarding grounds improvement projects and listen to and include my own, and the children’s ideas. With Norse’s help, we have transformed and dramatically improved the outdoor environment at Taverham Junior; visitors regularly comment on how lovely the various outdoor spaces are.”
